Big Trouble (2002)

Big Trouble:

This is the latest effort from director Barry Sonnenfeld.  I'm kind of divided on Sonnenfeld because here's a guy who has given us crap like Wild Wild West (1999) and The Tick (TV series) (2001).  Then again, he's done some pretty good work in Get Shorty (1995) and Men In Black (1997)Big Trouble is a crime-comedy that is neither really good nor really bad, but it is more entertaining than not.  In other words, the good outweighs the bad.  I guess I'm just a sucker for these types of movies where you follow many different characters around and in the end, all these people are somehow related to the overall story.  It's got a star-studded cast including Tim Allen, Dennis Farina, Janeane Garofalo, Rene Russo, and many other big names who all do great jobs in bringing humor to their particular situations.  The movie isn't without it's flaws though because when a humor attempt is made and fails, it fails miserably.  For the most part, it's pretty entertaining and has a more than a few laugh out loud moments.  It's a fun movie that doesn't pretend to be more than it is.
